April 29, 2012

Sister Worthington had a tough week, but she left her dad and I with these words today...which brought us both to tears.

"Missions are no where near perfect but I feel good when Im on the mission field serving. I understand the atonement, the significances of families, God, love, and after my mission I know i will be better prepared to be a wife and a mother, I also feel more confident and have never felt so good about myself like ever. Missions are incredible I now understand a little why god wanted ME to go on a mission. I have been praying really really hard that Paisley will also serve a mission it does incredible things."

Maddy described her week as "bleh," but said it is getting better! Hopefully, things are starting to look up! She could probably use lots of love and letters this week!

Hey everyone so seriously what a week!!! So I was sick sunday all the way to Friday it was miserable. Then Wednesay night we got a phone call. The children we have been teaching the Palmers their aunt and uncle had court with their parents who are on DRUG CHARGES and the judge gave the kids back to their parents. So weve been asked not to teach them anymore cause its too hard on them :'( Ive never been so disappointed in a court judge in my entire life. The next day the lady we lived with almost had a stroke. So it was a tough week. But saturday we were finally able to go out and teach and work again and that felt great I also remembered Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the lord with all thine heart and lean not into thy own understanding in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.
This mission there is alot of disappointments and sadness but I also feel gods love for myself and others and I know good things are to come from this mission. I love you all and hope all is well. - Sister Worthington

Hello everyone so heres what happened this week... so we went looking for alot of former investigators, we taught the ballards, and the t family who are investigators, we taught seminary, went to a meeting in Albuquerque where we found out that there will be sister leaders amazing right!!! But now things are a little rough. Saturday I had a tickle in my throat i brushed it off and went on with the day. But then yesterday  I woke up with a horrible sore throat and I did not feel good at all. My companion felt my forehead and she said that I for sure had a fever. We were giving talks at church so we went to sacrament meeting. I honestly had no idea what I even talked about I was so sick but everyone was impress that I would give a talk when I was so sick. So after sacrament our ward mission leader and some other ward missionaries gave me a priesthood blessing. Afterwards we went home and I slept all day. The lady that was feeding us dinner brought dinner to us bless her sweet heart then we watched legacy and the Joesph smith movie. And today Im still very sick so we are emailing, getting a few things from the store and then staying home cause im still very sick. It stinks cause I want to do the work but I know in time that I will feel better and we will get back to work. I love you all and hope to hear from all of you guys soon - love sister worthington

Week of April 7th through the 14th, 2013:

Hello everyone so heres what happened this week with the mission

tuesday: we taught our investigator Betty she said that she was baptized before and does not want to do it again so we are working with her on that
Wednesday- The lady we live with Sister Cannon got very very sick. So we did our weekly planning and one lesson with a less active while she was at the dr. We did not feel safe leaving her home alone but shes doing good now :))
Thursday- District meeting I love my district their so fun and im becoming good friends with all of them
Friday- We had exchanges. I stayed in white rock/ los alamos and a girl serving in Las vegas was my companion. She is new like i am but we did great. We went and visited former investigators and we got lost and we were walking around and this man came out and said "hey you guys are the sister missionaries!!! so we went up to him and talked with him for a bit. turns out hes an actor whose been in New Zealand for 5 months acting in a movie and hes also less active. Then we went and taught a lady named Miss Alice who has known about the church for 20 years it was a two hour lesson and it was amazing!!1 The spirit was very very strong and we answered every question she had. It went really well.
Saturday- We went and visited four former investigators and I cant believe how much of the day it took but it went really well. We might be teaching another family very soon. We also were walking home and there was a coyote. eeek Ive havent been that scared for a very long time
Sunday- blehhh we tried former investigators again and we could not  get ahold of anyone so sunday was very long
monday- we got to go to the temple. It was amazing the Albuquerque temple has the Spanish and native American culture there. I got to see some of my old mtc family I was very happy. We then went to Chic fil a for lunch yummy and then did some p day stuff.

so that was that week. this week is going to be very very very busy but im ready. I love you all very much and hope all is well. :))

Sister Worthington, her mission president and his wife.

Maddy's latest letter...April 15, 2013

Well, Maddy hasn't been able to send an email yet today, so I am going to type up her latest written letter which also explains why we haven't received any emails today. :)

Dear Family,

So guess what?! Everyone told me how warm it is here, well it snowed. And it's been cold since the day I got here. So not as warm as people told me but that's ok. So these last 3 days have been interesting...yesterday my companion was sick again...but we still taught Betty and got our area books organized. Monday we took our truck to Santa Fe. The alignment and wheel was broken. We took it to one shop but they couldn't do anything. So we went to another shop. We are usually supposed to wait there but the show playing was a naughty show with cussing, nudity, etc. so we got permission to go to the mall across the street. It's a very lame mall but they had a zumba store :) and they had a Boot Barn!!!! They were playing one of my favorite songs "Even if It Breaks Your Heart" by the Eli Young band. I was seriously in heaven. So then Wednesday the lady we lived with was very very sick. We were afraid if we left her, that something bad would happen. We luckily had weekly planning so we stay home for that. And then our only set appointment was the same time as her dr's appointment so we met up with our appointment Shane. He's less active. He has a very strong testimony of the church, but hates coming. (We found out that he was engaged to a member and then she broke it off.) We are still working with him. So Monday I might be emailing you guys...every 6 months the temple is usually closed on Mondays but they open it just for the missionaries. So we are going to the Albuquerque temple Monday. I'm very very excited. Well I <3 you guys very much and hope all is well.

<3,

Sister Worthington

April 1, 2013

Hello everyone!!!! Happy Easter what a week!!! So we now have another family to teach!!!! The sister missionaries met a family 6 months ago they had the discussions once it did not go well but they love the sisters so they have become good friends with them. Well they said I could pracitce teaching with them and it became soooo much more then that. I told them about the first vision and the spirit was VERY strong. The dad agreed to have the family kneel down and pray, read the intro of the bom, and watch conference!!! He refused those six months ago but he is allowing himself and the family to know more its so amazing!!!
Then we had extra time so we decided to go tracting ickkkky. Well my companion said to choose a street I looked at a street and had a very strong feeling that we needed to go to that neighborhood the first two houses did not go well but then we knocked on a door and this sweet old lady opened the door and let us in. She said her son was mormon and that she always loved our temples. We have an appointment with her tomorrow so I hope it will go well :)
Easter was incredible!! The members had an amazing easter sacrament meeting then we watched a talk from Bruce R mcckonkie at the end. Then after dinner we had a feeling that we needed to go home. My companion and I live with a member named Sister Cannon. about a year and a half ago her husband went on a hike and never returned. at the same time a forest fire happened so they think he burned but their not exactly sure... So anyways we went home and we talked about the atonement and what it has in our lives and then we watched the lamb of god and the testaments which are incredible movies about christ. I miss you all but I have survived a month of the mission :)))))). Love you all - Sister Worthington
